Teemanay, a.k.a “Young Icon” is an International Award winning Afrobeats singer, songwriter, and producer, born in Nigeria.
He was raised in a humble home in Delta State, Nigeria, the last of 5 kids and a graduate of medicine but with a very relentless talent and passion for music. He learned to play instruments by ear and started singing at the age of 6yrs. He has always wanted to become an international star and knew he would someday travel the world to perform in front of a large crowd.
His love for Afro-Global sounds pushed him to travel far and wide in search of a suitable environment that allowed him to maximize his potential as a great singerand songwriter with eccentric vocal dexterity. From the struggles of Lagos and London,to the glitters of Johannesburg, he eventually found himself in the City that never sleeps, New York City, a path that led him to discover his sound which he terms “Afro-Switch”; a modern Afro-fusion sound with an influence of Urban RnB and Caribbean sonics. His genre is also popularly called Afrobeats but specifically referred to as “Nigerian RnB”.
Teemanay is the most sought after Afrobeats Artist in any African gathering in the East Coast of America with over 15M accumulative streams across digital platforms. So far, Teemanay has released hit singles like

Call Me”, a single which has not only broken barriers for an Independent Artist but has also paved the opportunity for him to go on a 10 City tour with “Young Jonn” a notable Nigeria hit singer and producer in all of September 2024. Teemanay’s latest single “
Call Me” debuted at #35 in the US Afrobeats Billboard Chart, won him a recent African Arts Entertainment Award as the Diaspora Artist of the year 2024,got him a headlining gig at the Annual Afrobeats Vs Amapiano Festival in Barclays Center, 2024, and is currently being considered for the #67th Grammy Awards in 3 categories names; Best New Artist, Best African Music Performance, and Song of the Year, respectively. He just recently received his first Grammy Nomination as a Singer and Songwriter for his contribution in the Album “World Wide Playdate” under the category of Best Children’s Music Album in the forthcoming 2025 Grammy Awards.
He has headlined notable platforms across the diaspora and across the world including the Afrobeats Festival at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, 2022, and 2023 and 2024,Toured with Burna Boy in 2022, Toured with Young Jonn in September 2024,headlined the Afrobeats Festival at Schomburg Center, Harlem, headlined the Nigerian Independence Festival in New York City, Co headlined the Atlanta Jollof Festival and headlined the just concluded labor day carnival in brooklyn, to mention a few.His debut Album is in the works and scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2025.
